I loved the movie The NeverEnding Story when I was younger. I watched it recently with my girls and it was not as good as I remembered, but there is a depth to this movie that I still love.
So often we think of never-ending, the infinite, in terms of numbers going on forever. We rarely tie it back to anything we experience in our daily lives unless we are studying mathematics or the universe. I think this is one of the reasons why I loved this movie so much. It opened my eyes to the perspective of my life being part of a bigger story, to the idea of a living story, and it brought the infinite into my finite world.
As a child I wondered where the book of my story sat and how the pages were magically added every day, but as I have grown I see that for a story to truly be living and never-ending, the depth is found within a finite number of pages, hidden between the lines where infinite new meanings, insights, and inspirations are waiting to be discovered every time it is read. Just as the numbers between 0 and 1 stretch to infinity, the meaning buried within the lines of a never-ending story is inexhaustible.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

A New Clear Eye
One of my daughters is beginning to study the human body. Last weekend we were studying some of the definitions.
Cell and Nucleus (pl. Nuclei) were two of the words.
Cell – The basic unit of all living things.
Nucleus – The central part of most cells that contains genetic material.
As we were studying, she started thinking about how she used believe that her body was full of little people doing all of the work inside. When she was little used to talk about “Pooper pushers” and “Mrs. Wishy Washy” and the different jobs they did in her body. She told me towards the end of studying that it was awesome to hear that all of these little people really existed, and now she knew that they were called cells.
After savoring this sweet and precious memory, I started thinking about all of our cells as people too. I wondered about their individual wills within each nucleus, and I wondered if I ask all of the little people (cells) in my body to collectively turn their nuclei towards the Will of Our Heavenly Father – what might happen?
Obviously I don’t know the answer to this, but I think if every cell in my body is aligned with the Holy Will of Our Heavenly Father, it would be more difficult for me as a whole person to fall out of alignment with His Holy Will.
Sweet Lord, I pray to surrender to You at the most basic level of my body, and I pray that as my inner nuclei align with Your Holy Will I am given a New Clear Eye allowing my whole body to be full of Your Light.
Matthew 6:22
The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.
Deep in the woods
My husband loves to camp, and I have grown to really enjoy it too. The last time we were camping, I was lying awake listening to the sounds of the night and I had an amazing thought…
What if we have lost our ability to clearly hear and understand the creatures of the night? To us they sound like noise, usually with a beat and in unison, but nothing more than a mixture of sounds, but what if they are really saying
“Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come.”
– Revelation 4:8
Maybe all together and moving in unison and working as one, they become the four living creatures around the throne of God who are full of eyes all around and inside, singing praise to God our Father day and night without ceasing.
That night I listened and tried to hear it, but eventually I fell asleep, but you, my friends, whose hearts have remained holy and pure – listen because I am sure deep in the woods you will hear the the never ceasing praise sung by the very least creatures here on earth for the greatest of all, our Lord God the Almighty!
